Hemp Oil vs CBD - Is There A Difference?

Hemp Seed Oil and CBD extracted from hemp are completely different. You need to read this blog to understand.

As the popularity of CBD has grown, so has the range of different hemp-derived products available to you. Even more confusing, there are now a huge number of products made with hemp oil that look and sound a lot like CBD. These products claim to support many of the same benefits and are conveniently sold at places like Amazon, where you likely already buy many of your favorite supplements. But can they offer similar benefits to your athletic preparation, performance, and recovery? At Champions + Legends we know how confusing these questions may be, which is why we are going to help you understand the differences between hemp oil and CBD. Once you’re armed with the knowledge you need, you’ll be able to fully experience what CBD can do for your daily training routine.

The truth is, not all hemp products are created equal. There is a significant difference between products made with hemp seed oil and those made with hemp flower extract (CBD). It may seem a bit confusing to you as they both come from the same plant, but the the similarities stop there. Though they are often marketed in the same way, hemp oil and CBD oil have crucial differences that affect their potential benefits.

The key difference lies in the lack of natural plant compounds, known as cannabinoids which are not present in hemp oil products. While hemp oil and CBD extract do come from the same plant, CBD extract is made from the flowers of the hemp plant—where CBD and all other cannabinoids are found. Hemp oil, or hemp seed oil, is extracted only from hemp seeds, which contain no CBD. Consequently, if you’re looking to experience all of the potential health benefits of CBD, don’t be fooled, hemp seed oil products do not contain any CBD, nor any of the other beneficial cannabinoids that come with full-spectrum CBD extracts. No matter what dubious claims these products make, they can’t offer the same potential benefits that full-spectrum CBD supplements like tinctures, softgels and topicals can. While they may be packaged to look like CBD products and described in ways that sound a lot like CBD, they simply aren’t the real thing.

In summary, hemp seed oil is created the same way all other nut oils like olive oil, avocado oil, peanut oil, etc.  are produced which is through a cold press of the seeds.   CBD is extracted from a part of the hemp plant which contains all the cannabinoids, which is where the health and wellness properties (cannabinoids) of the hemp plant are contained.   Hemp seeds do have health and nutritional value but they should not be confused with CBD.  We know this is confusing, but it is important for you to know these differences and what they mean to you.

Another difference between hemp oil and CBD is how and where these products are sold. Since they use only oil extracted from the hemp seed they aren’t governed by the same laws and regulations that govern CBD products. With less restrictions, you’re able to purchase them freely in places like gas stations and on Amazon where you’re unable to buy CBD. We know sometimes it’s tough to resist convenience, but purchasing your CBD supplements from reputable companies is important. You always want to ensure that you’re getting high-quality products worth your hard-earned dollars.

When you’re considering purchasing CBD, we recommend asking yourself a few questions: “Am I getting my CBD from a reputable brand? Do they have rigorous quality control and inspection protocols in place to measure CBD and THC content?” In reality, the best way to ensure you are getting high-quality, potent CBD supplements is to purchase them directly from a trusted brand. Make sure they offer clear, accurate information about their products, manufacturing processes, and quality-control. Finally, look for product testing results. If they aren’t willing to stand behind their products, be wary, they’re probably not worth your money. By considering each of these factors, you can buy with confidence and experience the full range of benefits that a CBD routine can bring to your athletic preparation, performance, and recovery.
