Cannabidiol, more commonly known as CBD, is one of one of at least 120 identified plant compounds, known as cannabinoids, which exist in the hemp plant. CBD is the leading cannabinoid within the hemp plant and is non-psychoactive, meaning it will not lead to the sensation of being “high” typically associated with tetrahydrocannabinol, otherwise known as THC. Leading research suggests that cannabinoids have a better effect on the body when they work together as a team, rather than individually, in what is known as the “entourage effect”.

CBD works on our bodies by targeting receptors of the endocannabinoid system: a network of neurotransmitters that mediate our reactions to stress, pain and inflammation. The most promising potential benefits of CBD include: a sense of calm for focus; relief from everyday stress; help in recovery from exercise-induced inflammation; and support for healthy sleep cycles.

No, you can’t. Hemp-derived CBD, like the CBD in all Champions + Legends products, contains only trace amounts of THC - the psychoactive compound responsible for the sensation of “getting high”. By law, CBD cannot contain more than 0.3% concentration of THC. Simply put: no amount of our product could be consumed that would trigger the psychoactive effects commonly associated with THC. A similar analogue would be toothpaste: while it contains small amounts of alcohol, you’re not going to get drunk by ingesting tubes of toothpaste.

No. Champions + Legends CBD is derived from the hemp plant, not marijuana. While the hemp plant and the marijuana plant are close relatives, they are not the same. By definition, hemp contains no more than 0.3% THC - the psychoactive compound responsible for the sensation of “getting high” which is found in higher concentrations in marijuana. By contrast, the hemp plant features naturally higher levels of CBD, a non-psychoactive compound known for helping our bodies maintain health and overall wellness.

Studies show that CBD derived from hemp can be well-tolerated by many. Since the most common results of taking it are calm and focus; relief from exercise-induced inflammation; support for healthy sleep cycles; and relief from everyday stresses, anyone seeking balance in these areas might benefit from CBD. At Champions + Legends we believe our products can benefit a broad and diverse group of people, and we focus on individuals who continue to challenge themselves physically and mentally, providing them with a comprehensive arsenal of tools to pursue their goals.

In 2018 both the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) removed CBD from their prohibited list for both in and out of competition. Organizations which comply with WADA policies include all International Federations, as well as the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and more than 200 US anti-doping agencies. Athletes can legally consume CBD in the US, as long as it has been extracted from hemp plants. When extracted from hemp, CBD oil contains less than 0.3% THC, and is not considered a controlled substance by the federal government.

WADA’s current threshold for THC is 150 nanograms (ng) per millilitre (ml), which is tested via a urine test. CBD adhering to the US federal requirement of containing no more than 0.3% THC is compliant with WADA, which is why we use a rigorous six phase independent testing protocol to provide our customers with the confidence that Champions + Legends products are safe for use in sport and athletic competitions.

It is important that all athletes carefully review the regulations associated with the competitions and sporting events they participate in.

At Champions + Legends we are leveraging our experience in the North American CBD industry to develop custom product formulations based on full-spectrum CBD as the key active ingredient. We believe that full-spectrum CBD formulations offer the greatest potential for athletes to experience the positive benefits of CBD and all that it can do for the body and mind.

How does Champions + Legends full-spectrum CBD differ from other types of CBD, such as broad-spectrum CBD or Isolate CBD?
There are several types of CBD products on the market, including full-spectrum, broad-spectrum and isolate, all of which are produced using different extraction methods.

Full-spectrum CBD is an extract that contains CBD as well as all of the naturally-occurring compounds found in the plant, including terpenes, essential oils, and other cannabinoids. The advantages of full-spectrum CBD lie in what’s known as the “entourage effect”. The full range of compounds extracted from the hemp actually work together as a team to amplify the health benefits of each individual cannabinoid. With full-spectrum CBD you’re getting the maximum potential for benefits from the CBD because all of the compounds are present and interacting together. While full-spectrum CBD does have trace amounts of THC, it’s not enough to cause any psychoactive effects of feeling “high”.

Broad-spectrum CBD is extracted in a similar manner as full-spectrum CBD and contains CBD and most of the other cannabinoids and compounds within the plant, except for the THC, which is completely removed after the initial extraction. More simply, broad-spectrum CBD is like a mix between full-spectrum CBD and CBD isolate (which we’ll discuss shortly), as it contains the entire spectrum of cannabinoids EXCEPT for the THC part. Because broad-spectrum extracts contain multiple cannabinoids, they also produce some of the “entourage effect”, but without the additional benefits that come with the presence of trace amounts of THC. So while it is THC-free, you’re not getting the full range of potential benefits like you would be with full-spectrum CBD.

CBD isolate is the most simple form of CBD and is created when only the CBD cannabinoids are pulled from the plant materials and all other cannabinoids and compounds are removed. The advantage of CBD isolate over other formats is that it contains the highest concentration of CBD per serving. Isolates are usually 99% pure, meaning that one gram of isolate powder carries about 990 mg of CBD. The downside to isolate CBD is that while you can benefit from the effects of solely the CBD, there’s no entourage effect, so you

We use Full-Spectrum CBD because leading research on the efficacy of CBD suggests that one of the main advantages of full spectrum CBD compared to other derivatives, including isolate CBD, is that the comprehensive range of its active compounds available in full spectrum CBD can exert synergistic and complementary effects, which are collectively referred to as the “entourage effect”. These positive effects cannot be produced by CBD molecules alone, as it appears in isolate form, which is why we have chosen to use the full spectrum of plant compounds in designing our custom formulated CBD products.

CBD is generally well tolerated and considered safe. As with any other supplement, there is a chance that it could cause adverse reactions for some people, and/ or could interact with certain medications. Like with any dietary supplement, you should consult your physician before use if you are pregnant, nursing, have or suspect a medical condition or are taking any medications.

At Champions + Legends we are dedicated to transparency and producing the highest quality CBD supplements. In order to be compliant with Federal Law and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulation of THC levels within CBD products, the entire Champions + Legends product range undergoes a rigorous six-phase testing protocol as follows:
Phase 1: The industrial hemp plants used as raw materials for our products are first tested at the time of harvest, prior to initial acceptance and purchase.
Phase 2: Upon passing the first phase of our testing protocol the raw hemp material is sent to a facility where it undergoes an extraction process using CO2, resulting in a pure form of full spectrum CBD oil which is tested a second time.
Phases 3 & 4: Once the CBD oil is received by our manufacturer, it is tested two additional times prior to being used in manufacturing our custom formulated products.
Phase 5: The batches of manufactured products are tested a fifth time prior to packaging.
Phase 6: The final phase of testing involves sending samples of final products to an independent lab for final verification and quality checks before shipping our products to the warehouse for distribution.

Your ideal dosage will depend on several factors including height, weight, metabolism, the severity of symptoms, and the delivery method you’re using. For average body sizes, 12-20mg is a good starting point and it’s best to start small, as it may take some time to determine the optimal dosage for you.

There’s no need to worry about taking too much as CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning, it won’t deliver the sensation of getting high. Achieving optimal performance is all about sticking to a process and adjusting as necessary, and CBD use is no different. Everyone will react differently to CBD, but with small adjustments you can begin to find the amount and delivery method that works best for you.
