Hidden behind Pat Vellner’s relaxed and friendly demeanor lies the soul of a dedicated competitor - an elite athlete who has committed himself to a process and remains relentless in his quest to be crowned the Fittest Man on Earth. A top tier Crossfit competitor and 3-time podium finisher at the Crossfit Games, Pat continues to build on his success by demonstrating his trademark versatility as he switches seamlessly between the strength, endurance and mobility challenges presented by the sport.

Athletics and competition were part of Pat’s life from an early age. Growing up in Canada, Pat and his older brother were both accomplished gymnasts, however it wasn’t until 2012 when Pat moved to Montreal to attend university that he found Crossfit. What began as a hobby quickly evolved into a deep passion and outlet for Pat to progress his physical fitness and mental strength. Leveraging his unique blend of athleticism, strength, and mobility, Pat began competing in Crossfit in 2013. Through diligence and hard work he first reached the Crossfit Games in 2015 as a member of Team Crossfit Plateau. After his competitive debut, Pat competed in the Games as an individual from 2016-2019, finishing on the podium three times.

Pat is currently ranked #1 worldwide, with recent wins at Wodapalooza and the Rogue Invitational cementing his status as a champion and force to be reckoned with. The 2020 Crossfit Games provides the perfect opportunity for Pat to challenge himself and inspire a new generation of fans with his ability to perform under pressure and navigate obstacles with discipline. Pat&rsqio;s trademark mix of humility and hunger to win serve as the foundation for a competitive career that has weathered injuries and setbacks with a calm sense of purpose, allowing him to push past adversity into the elite ranks of Crossfit athletes.

More than just a competitive athlete, Pat is a  health care professional who uses what he learns in the gym to improve the lives of his patients as a licensed chiropractor. A self-professed fitness and mobility nerd, Pat brings his trademark diligence to his chiropractic practice, as he continues to seek new and innovative tools to help people feel better so they can train harder for longer. In describing his approach to training and life Pat says: “Every year, you’re only as good as your last year. You have to enjoy it, because it might not last very long. The work is never done.”

Pat lives and trains in Nanaimo, Canada and is looking forward to the next stage in his fitness journey. At Champions + Legends we’re proud to welcome Pat to our team and to support him as he continues his quest to become the Fittest Man On Earth.
